John F. Bukacek translates Japanese patents, scientific and technical papers, reports, manuals, catalogs, brochures, and web sites. He provides litigation support, including document review and translation of discovery documents. He also does consecutive interpretation in Japanese and English for business and technical meetings.
John F. Bukacek graduated from St. John’s College, Annapolis, Maryland, in 1976, and studied the Japanese language at George Washington University under Yamada Shuhei, and at the Kyoto International Foreign Language Center under Yamaguchi Osamu. While In Japan (1978-1983), he worked as a translator and teacher for the Berlitz Schools of Languages and as a translator for International Business Communications. He is accredited by the American Translators Association for Japanese-English Translation. John F. Bukacek is the founding Administrator of the Japanese Language Division of the American Translators Association. He is also the founding President of the Chicago Area Translators and Interpreters Association. He served on the Board of Directors of the American Translators Association from 1988 to 1991. He has also served on the following committees of the American Translators Association: Terminology, Accreditation, Ethics, and Publicity.
